My Own Making

"This piece is composed of the words that describe both my journey to where I am now and the journey to who I am yet to become."

I created this piece, entitled “My Own Making” to represent all of the things that have placed me on my journey towards becoming a surgeon. My ultimate goal is to be a bariatric surgeon because of my own vertical sleeve gastrectomy nearly four years ago. I knew that I wanted to give other people the same “do over” at life that I was given. I have been through hell and back to become the woman I am today, and I know that I am going to go through so much more to become an incredible surgeon some day. This piece is composed of the words that describe both my journey to where I am now and the journey to who I am yet to become.
