Journey of lysergenic acid diethylamide through a human body from superior to inferior regions by looking at the symptoms on the body parts.

Hello,

My name is Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, but you can call me Acid.

I come from the rye of witchcraft, from disease-causing ergot.

Today, I want to take you on a journey.

In your head is where all the game is,

from inhibition of your serotonergic cells to cross-wiring of your thalamus,

so you can taste music.

Hypnagogia, or alteration of ego-function,

I think Freud would be most interested in the pseudohallucinations.

You see colors you’ve never seen before, with your eyes wide open.

Those cheeks of yours flushed

like you just said “you too” to the server telling you “Bon appetite.”

The diaphoresis, the salivation, all so exhilarating.

Take over your heart with tachycardia or bradycardia,

but those lungs of yours I’ll spare.

Your nemesis might be emesis,

induced by the hyperglycemia I tend to cause.

I’m a compound of mystery, my first-pass metabolism not yet concrete.

Dopamine is my friend, down to the excretory trail together, we rarely go.

I make your reflex game strong and the balance of your gait low.

Now I bid my adieus and hope this was not a bad trip.
